Hi, I’m Marcy, and I couldn’t be more excited to introduce myself as the newest intern at
Resilient Fitness! Life is full of unexpected opportunities for growth, and for me fitness
has been one of those opportunities and the biggest catalyst for change in my life.
For the longest time, I saw myself simply as a stay-at-home mom (SAHM). You know,
the one who shows up fashionably late with a herd of kids in tow because, well, none of
them could find their shoes (yes, I’m looking at you, kids!). I’m not blaming them, but
let’s be honest — it is kind of their fault.
After earning my Chemical Engineering degree, becoming a SAHM was both one of the
most unexpected and best decisions I’ve ever made. Motherhood taught me so much
about myself and helped me develop life skills that I never could have learned any other
way. But despite all of that, something was missing — something that would push me
beyond my limits and help me grow even more.
The Turning Point: How Lifting Changed Everything
A few years ago, I hit a roadblock. As a busy mom of four, I found myself struggling to
prioritize my health. Then, I tore my Achilles tendon. The recovery was brutal, both
physically and emotionally. I lost a lot of strength in my right leg, and suddenly, the
activities I relied on to stay active were no longer an option. That’s when my husband
suggested something that would change my life: strength training.
I started with at-home workouts, and after a year, I realized something — if I wanted to
rebuild the muscle I’d lost, I needed to lift heavier. That’s when I walked into Resilient
Fitness for the first time, two years ago, and tried barbells.
It was a game-changer.
Lifting weights didn’t just help me regain my physical strength; it transformed my mind. It
taught me discipline, resilience, and the power of believing in myself. I discovered that I
could push past obstacles, overcome my limits, and achieve things I never thought
possible. As a mom of four, I’ve learned the hard way how to juggle a million
responsibilities. But I’ve also realized that investing in my own health is essential, not
just for me, but for my family too. Today, I feel mentally and physically stronger than I
ever have, and I’m here to share that passion with you.
Joining Resilient Fitness: A Dream Come True
I’ve been fortunate to work with amazing trainers along the way, who have coached me
and helped me get to where I am today. Now, as an intern, I’m beyond excited to learn
from the very people who’ve inspired me and guided my journey. The knowledge,
passion, and skills these coaches bring are exactly what I hope to soak in and apply to
help others, just like they helped me.
But here’s the thing — my journey isn’t just about me. It’s about the community we
create together, the support we give each other, and the strength we find when we lift
each other up.
